Mansfield Community Theater presents My Fair Lady this month in a "loverly" rendition of the classic play.
Scott Ferrell, musical director for the play, said the show is sure to be a success.
"This will be the best thing Mansfield has ever seen, without a doubt," Ferrell said.
"My Fair Lady," often considered the gold standard of musical theater, tells the story of Professor Henry Higgins in his quest to pass off flower salesgirl Eliza Doolittle as a society lady in order to win a bet.
"It's a timeless story of relationships and our human growth," Ferrell said. "Love and friendships are something we can all relate to regardless of age or background."
The semi-professional show has a cast of 60, ranging from first-time participants and students to professional actors.
The play will run from July 16-18 with four shows scheduled at the Kennedale Performing Arts Center.
Robert Banks, who plays Higgins, is a professional actor who runs a chain of dinner theaters in Dallas. He decided to audition for the part of Higgins, which he has played twice before. He said the show will surprise because of its professional quality.
"This production is going to have a higher quality of production value than you would normally get at a community theater," Banks said.
Mandi Jakaboski, who plays Doolittle, said she is excited to be performing in her first non-school affiliated play with such high-caliber actors. A lifelong lover of "My Fair Lady," Jakaboski played Doolittle in a high school production at First Baptist Academy. Jakaboski is now in school at the University of Texas at Dallas. "It's great getting to act with more mature fellow actors," Jakaboski said. "And I'm getting to play a role I know like the back of my hand."
Marty Fredrick, the show's director, said it's a treat for Mansfield residents who, thanks to the production, can be exposed to fine theater without having to drive to Fort Worth or Dallas."It's so exciting to bring a show this large to the area," she said.
